‘The Disciple’, Fahadh Faasil, Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee, Konkana, Nimisha Sajayan Best of 2021

‘The Disciple’ directed by Chaitanya Tamhane has been rated as the Best feature Film of 2021 followed two Malayalam films ‘Minnal Murali’ and ‘Joji’ directed by Basil Joseph and Dileesh Pothan respectively. Actor Fahad Fasil once again has been nominated as the top performer for the Malayalam film ‘Malik’, closely followed by Vicky Kaushal for ‘Sardar Udham’ and Tovino Thomas for ‘Minnal Murali’. Actresses Konkana Sen Sharma and Nimisha Sajayan together hold the first rank for their performances in ‘Geeli Pucchi’ and ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ while Taapsee Pannu stands at the second position for ‘Haseen Dilruba’.


The ratings were contributed by Film Critics from all over the country Baradwaj Rangan (Chennai), Sachin Chate (Goa), Siraj Syed (Mumbai), Chandi Mukherjee (Kolkata), Murtaza Ali Khan (New Delhi), Dalton Christopher (Kerala) and Utpal Datta (Guwahati). Organized by the Indian Film Institute established by Manoj Srivastava, Film Festivals Expert and Saibal Chatterjee, Film Critic, the ratings are spread over three categories only and cover over a pool of 44 feature films from all filmmaking regions of the country. The films rated by Film Critics as Number 1 are given 10 marks and so on. The final compilation is released by the Institute each year.

The IFI honours film and television artists, their work by posting Reviews, organising Ratings of the cinematic arts, conducts regular Workshops, Master Classes and film festivals to promote and preserve the Cinematic heritage of India. IFI also connects Indian Policy makers with the ground situations through Trade Bodies and Film Associations.


Ever since the results were declared on Monday night, the posts on our Instagram has been shared by Vicky Kaushal, Tapsee Pannu, Fahadh Fassil, Tovino Thomas and manny more which reached over 600,000 people till now.
